The Sandaun Provincial Government will now have their own Land Board to oversee land matters in the province rather than relying on the Lands & Physical Planning Department.
A ceremony was held today in the provincial capital, Vanimo to witness the swearing in of the Provincial Land Board executives.
Lands and Physical Planning Minister, Benny Allan accompanied by National Land Board Chairman, Sam Wange and Land Service Deputy Secretary, Luther Sipison officially witnessed the swearing in ceremony.
Minister Allan expressed gratitude to the Acting Governor, Paul Nigai and his Provincial Government for inviting him and his delegation to officiate at the ceremony.
“I want to thank the provincial government for this bold and milestone achievement. You can now plan your own destiny in the way you want in so far as town planning and addressing land issues is concern at your door step,” Mr Allan said.
Meanwhile, a similar occasion is planned for by the Madang Provincial Government and the Lands Minister has been formally invited to officiate at the Madang Land and Physical Planning Board swearing in ceremony.
